UCCF offers the following therapy groups:
Social Skills Groups
Groups for different ages run throughout the year, typically on Tuesday evenings, beginning in September, January and April with screening appointments scheduled 6-8 weeks prior to the start of the group.Screening appointments are held to create appropriate group composition and to confirm scheduling that works for all participants. Please call to determine when a group for your child will be available.
In Social Skills Groups, children learn and practice how to socialize with a small group of peers in a safe environment, knowing that other children may also have similar social challenges. All meetings include instruction, role-playing and/or practice, and feedback designed to help children learn skills that are important in establishing friendships and maintaining positive social interactions while having fun in a group setting. Parents will be informed about the skills learned during group sessions to encourage the child to practice the new skills in between group meetings. Parents will also be provided an opportunity to have feedback during an individual consultation about their child’s experience in the group. Parents are also invited to attend a parent talk provided during their child’s group session.
