At the University Center for the Child and the Family (UCCF), we have a multidisciplinary staff of mental health providers that includes experienced child clinical psychologists, social workers, a child psychiatrist, and a speech-language pathologist. These experienced clinicians closely supervise our post-doctoral fellows, post-MSW fellows, doctoral-level psychology interns, clinical social work interns, and practicum students. Our staff provides culturally sensitive consultations for every case. Our team of clinicians is guided in their practice by our scientist-practitioner model in providing an integrative approach to evaluation and treatment.

Director
Dr. Cynthia Ewell Foster is the director of the University Center for the Child and the Family (UCCF). Dr. Ewell Foster is a licensed clinical child and adolescent psychologist with expertise in a variety of evidence-based psychotherapies for children and adolescents. In addition to her position at UCCF, Dr. Ewell Foster also has a joint appointment as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she participates on the Depression and Suicide Prevention Research Team and provides teaching and supervision to mental health professionals in training. Dr. Ewell Foster has been working at the University of Michigan since 2002, joining IHA in 2011.

Anupama (Anu) Agrawal, LMSW, is a clinical social worker at the University Center for the Child and the Family (UCCF). Ms. Agrawal has had years of clinical experience before coming to the Institute for Human Adjustment, including clinical experience as a psychoanalytic psychotherapy fellow at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute and Society and as a clinical instructor at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work before coming to Michigan.
Read the full bio Eileen Bond, LMSW, is a clinical social worker at the University Center for the Child and the Family with over thirty years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. In her early career, she worked at Hawthorn Children's Psychiatric Hospital for eight years. She also developed two parenting classes in the community including a mother-daughter group addressing issues of puberty and "Parenting the Young Child" classes. In addition to supervising, teaching, and serving as a clinician, she maintains a private practice in Ann Arbor.
Read the full bio Kristen M. Chapman, MA, is a senior speech/language/learning specialist at the University Center for the Child and the Family (UCCF). Ms. Chapman started the psychoeducational testing service at UCCF, and is involved in the coordination of that service. She also supervises the intake process for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) evaluations. After clients go through evaluations for attention and/or learning problems, Ms. Chapman participates in feedback sessions to help families with educational follow-up. The educational consultation service is available to families whose children are tested at UCCF, the families of children who are clients at UCCF, as well as children and families in the greater Ann Arbor, Michigan, community.

In addition to her appointment at UCCF, Dr. Gipson is a Research Investigator in the Department of Psychiatry, child/adolescent section, at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At UCCF, Dr. Gipson coordinates training for psychology practicum students and provides training and clinical services in diagnostic assessment, anxiety, depression, trauma, and suicide risk assessment and intervention.

She has been working at the Institute for Human Adjustment (IHA) since March 2009. In addition to her role at IHA, Dr. Hodges is also a clinical assistant professor and associate clinical director of the neuropsychology section in the UMHS Department of Psychiatry.

She is also an ASD phenotyping consultant on the Simons Variation in Individuals Project (Simons VIP).

Prior to her fellowship, Sheri was a social work intern at UCCF where, in addition to psychotherapy services, she helped facilitate a social skills group, and presented to parents on the emotional impact of parenting kids with ADHD and learning disabilities.

Read the full bio Carol Woodard, BA, is the senior administrative assistant in the IHA central office. She works closely with our trainees and interns, planning their events from orientation to graduation. Before coming to IHA, Ms. Woodard worked as a supervisor and customer service representative for phone companies in Atlanta, Georgia, and San Francisco, California. She started working in the U-M Psychological Clinic in 1995 as the daytime receptionist and progressed through office supervisor to senior administrative assistant in the IHA central office.

She recently defended her dissertation, an empirical research study examining the longitudinal links between couple spirituality and relationship outcomes across the transition to parenthood.
